NOAA Enrichment in Marine Sciences and Oceanography Program
NEMO is an after-school program Washington, District of Columbia for inner city schools that provides marine science activities, field trips, and resources for teachers and students.
NEMO is a program designed to promote ocean literacy in Washington, D.C.'s public schools, an inner city school system." A marine science curriculum was developed as part of the NEMO program (read more below) with input from teachers, expert scientists from NOAA and education specialists. Each lesson is aligned with national science teaching standards as well as the Ocean Literacy Principles.
This three-part series highlights activities undertaken by NEMO students in a typical year. The activities described here occurred during the 2015-16 school year.
