Seafood Industry Research Funding Opportunity

The Seafood Industry Research Fund
makes research grants to colleges, universities, and other institutions to conduct research of interest to the seafood industry and the consumers of its products. SIRF supports
- support high-quality scientific research,
- publicly share all research results, and
- provide a way for the seafood industry to give back to the larger community.
SIRF has provided almost $2.8 million for nearly 400 research grants resulting in the publication of approximately 360 related research papers. Research supported by SIRF covers a wide range of topics including studies related to
- The health effects of eating fish and seafood
- Developments in aquaculture and acceptance of aquaculture products
- New harvesting, farming, freezing, packaging, and processing technologies
- Food safety technologies and practices
- Fisheries resource management
