May 2024 HMS Advisory Panel Meeting

NOAA Fisheries will hold a meeting of the Atlantic Highly Migratory Species (HMS) Advisory Panel (AP) May 14-16, 2024. This meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast via webinar.

The intent of the Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel meeting is to consider options for the conservation and management of Atlantic Highly Migratory Species.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Outcomes of the 2023 International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas Annual Meeting
  • Atlantic bluefin tuna fishery update: management and recent trends
  • Atlantic shark fishery update: management and recent trends
  • Amendment 15 to the 2006 Consolidated Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Fishery Management Plan regarding spatial management
  • Atlantic highly migratory species fishing gear considerations

Other NOAA Fisheries offices and the U.S. Coast Guard will provide updates, if available, on activities relevant to Atlantic highly migratory species fisheries.
