NOAA scientists and partners take a photo of this dolphins dorsal fin for use in photo identification. Scientists use the unique markings on dolphin dorsal fins as a quick way to identify them in the wild during research. This study is part of the Natural Resource Damage Assessment for the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and authorized by Scientific Research Permit No. 932-1905-MA-009526.
