Marine Debris Encounters

Fisheries observers record geographic coordinates of marine debris encounters while out at sea on commercial fishing vessels. The distribution of the data corresponds with patterns in remotely sensed oceanographic variables such as sea surface temperature and chlorophyll levels. The data is presented in five-degree grid squares to protect the specific fishing locations of commercial fishing vessels.
