About the Partnership
In 2007, NOAA’s Community-based Restoration Program established a new partnership between SARP and the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. SARP will work to fund, implement and monitor restoration projects in the nine Southeastern coastal states that border the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Coast.
SARP has identified three priority watersheds, and worked with The Nature Conservancy to develop conservation plans to serve as models for a complete regional plan. The Partnership will target projects in these priority watersheds in 2008:
- Altahama River (GA)
- Pascagoula River (AL & MS)
- Roanoke River (VA &NC)
Request For Proposals
SARP and NOAA seek to fund projects that will result in on-the-ground restoration of aquatic habitats to benefit living marine resources, including NOAA trust resources (diadromous, estuarine, and marine species and their habitats). To ensure lasting benefits and enhanced community stewardship, each project should include a focused and effective education and outreach element. SARP strongly urges applicants to discuss project ideas and questions prior to submitting application.
