About EarthCorps
EarthCorps is a growing non-profit conservation corps
located in Seattle, Washington that trains youth to
implement ecological restoration while educating and
engaging diverse communities. Central to all EarthCorps'
programs is the goal to restore the natural balance
of the local ecosystems that have been negatively impacted
by human activity and growth, and to increase public
education about these ecosystems by improving public
access and increasing volunteer opportunities.
About the Partnership
The NOAA/EarthCorps Habitat Restoration partnership
began in 2002. During the first two years of the partnership,
over $300,000 of NOAA funds were matched 1:1 by EarthCorps
to conduct habitat restoration projects in Puget Sound
streams, wetlands, and estuaries that provide habitat
for anadromous salmonids. The goal of this partnership
is to implement projects that provide maximum benefit
to anadromous fish and that build diverse community
support for environmental restoration through volunteer
participation, partnerships with other service organizations,
and hands-on learning opportunities.
