About the Institute for Fisheries Resources
The Institute for Fisheries Resources (IFR) is a not-for-profit
organization dedicated to the study, protection and
enhancement of both marine and anadromous biological
resources in California and the Pacific Northwest. IFR’s
mission is to protect and restore fish populations and
the economies that depend on them. The Institute was
created in 1993 by the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's
Associations (PCFFA), the largest organization of commercial
fishermen on the west coast. IFR unites fishermen and
women with governmental agencies, non-profit organizations,
citizens, and other stakeholders to address fishery
protection and restoration issues and work toward global
sustainable fisheries.
About the Partnership
The NOAA/Institute for Fisheries Resources (IFR) Habitat
Restoration Partnership began in 2002. During the first
year of this partnership, $180,000 of NOAA funds were
provided to be matched 1:1 by IFR to award matching
grants funding on-the-ground habitat restoration projects
in the San Francisco Bay Region that result in restoration
or reestablishment of marine, estuarine and/or riparian
habitat benefitting native species of fish and wildlife.
Request For Proposals
NOAA partners with the Institute for Fisheries Resources
(IFR) to fund projects resulting in tangible restoration
of marine and anadromous biological resources in the
San Francisco Bay watershed. Projects should involve
significant community support and engagement, multiple
partners and be staffed by a local project manager.
During open announcements, applications should be directed
to the Institute for Fisheries Resources.
