About the Institute for Sustainable Forestry
The Institute for Sustainable Forestry (ISF) is a community-based
organization founded in 1991 designed to promote the
long-term ecological and economic well-being within
forest-based communities of northern California. ISF
seeks to develop the California Salmon Partnership with
NOAA to address impacts to watersheds as a key strategy
to recover listed salmonid stocks in California.
About the Partnership
The NOAA/Institute for Sustainable Forestry Habitat
Restoration Partnership began in 2002, when NOAA provided
$350,000 to be matched 1:1 by ISF to fund the California
Salmon Partnership and encourage community-based organizations
to implement priority fisheries habitat restoration
projects in coastal California. Seven projects were
funded and the partnership also provided training and
technical assistance to local watershed organizations
and restoration workers.
