Restoration Research Projects
The
NOAA RC has provided funding to support a number of research
projects which are in various stages of completion and
which provide input on habitat restoration techniques,
species restoration, and ecosystem function. All primary
researchers were NMFS employees while projects were being
implemented. We have supported both basic and applied
research on a variety of NOAA trust resource habitats,
with emphasis on wetlands, and have encouraged innovative
approaches and methodologies to restoration. The scientific
data and management processes resulting from these projects
have been used by NOAA RC and Federal trustees in developing
guidance in natural resource damage assessment claims
cases, and to direct program and project implementation
to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
