Recreational saltwater fishing takes place throughout the United States. Visit our media contact page to reach our regional Public Affairs Officers.
Marine recreational fishing is both an American pastime and an important economic driver nationwide. NOAA Fisheries works to collect accurate and timely information on marine recreational fishing through the Marine Recreational Information Program and through the National Saltwater Angler Registry, a cooperative program with states. NOAA Fisheries provides guidance and support to Regional Fishery Management Councils, which make decisions about the amount of fish recreational and commercial fishermen can catch, within the requirements of the Magnuson-Stevens Act. Contact information for our recreational fishing team is here.
