Limited Access Privilege Programs

The Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act of 2006 authorizes that a Council may submit, and the Secretary may approve, for a fishery that is managed under a limited access system, a limited access privilege program (LAPP) to harvest fish if the program meets the requirements of the Act. Below is a summary of actions taken related to this authority. LAPPs are included in the management programs that NOAA refers to as "catch shares."
