Executive Intern Position

Becoming an OLE Agent or OfficerWHAT:

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NOAA Fisheries), Office for Law Enforcement periodically opens internships. These positions are at our Headquarters office in Silver Spring, MD. (Red line - Silver Spring Metro stop)

REQUIREMENTS:

U.S. Citizenship
Undergraduate / Graduate student status
Ability to pass Interim Security Screening
Part-time – 16-20 hrs

Students majoring in: Criminal Justice, Wildlife Management, Environmental Sciences or pre-Law

BACKGROUND:

EXECUTIVE INTERN OPPORTUNITIES

Support OLE programs to include: Sustainable Fisheries, Protected Resources, International Affairs, Joint Enforcement Agreements, Vessel Monitoring Systems and the International Monitoring, Control and Surveillance Network. (Liaison)
Assist with assuring the agency remains in compliance with the Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) standards, and documents activities as proof for review (Accreditation)
Interact with OLE field offices, fishing industry reps, non-governmental organizations, NOAA general counsel’s office and other federal, state, and local governmental agencies on a variety of issues. (Coordination)
Work with internal & external media outlets responding to inquiries and writing news articles. (Media)
Draft and review OLE news releases for NOAA Fisheries PA approval. (Media)
Categorize, tag and loan out seized wildlife items for scientific, educational and outreach purposes. (Outreach / Evidence)
Assist in production & distribution of "educational hand-outs" for various trade shows, meetings and events. (Support)
Support other staff offices as needed to included: The Director’s Office, Human Resources, FOIA, Finance and OLE policy. (Staff)
Intern may be required to perform administrative assistant duties from time to time, including; answering phones, collecting and checking mail, filing and other duties as assigned (Office)
