Reef Fish Trip Reporting


As specified in 50 C.F.R. 622.5(a)(1)(ii)(A)(2) (i) and (ii):  For each fishing trip on which a fish trap will be used or possessed, an owner or operator of a vessel for which a fish trap endorsement has been issued, must submit a trip initiation report and a trip termination report to the SAC or his designee, by telephone, using the following 24-hour toll-free number (800) 305-0697.

Additionally, the above mentioned regulation cite requires that notification be made to the Southeast Office for Law Enforcement for any stolen or lost traps; and notification of any traps left deployed for any reason.   The linked PDF form should be completed and faxed to (727)-570-5355 or mailed to the addresses on the form.

Aquaculture Harvest Reporting


Pursuant to 50 C.F.R.§ 622.41, aquacultured live rock may be harvested only under permit, as required under 50 C.F.R. § 622.4(a)(3)(iii), and aquacultured live rock on a site may be harvested only by the person, or his or her employee, contractor, or agent, who has been issued the aquacultured live rock permit for the site.  Additional collection requirements as listed under 50 C.F.R. § 622.41(a)(4) state that not less than 24 hours prior to harvest of aquacultured live rock, the owner or operator of the harvesting vessel must provide the following information to the NMFS Law Enforcement Office, Southeast Area, St. Petersburg, FL, telephone (727)-570-5344:

Permit number of site to be harvested and date of harvest.

Name and official number of the vessel to be used in harvesting.

Date, port, and facility at which aquicultured live rock will be landed.
