A portion of funds is also available to make emergency assistance available for catastrophic stranding events throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Responders to such stranding events should immediately contact their Regional Office.

Until further guidance is published, those seeking emergency assistance funding should follow the requirements for submitting proposals under the emergency assistance component of the 2008 Prescott Grant Program described in the Federal Register notice of solicitation [pdf] (72 FR 36244, July 2, 2007) and Full Funding Opportunity [pdf].
