July 16 Federal Register Notice of Solicitation for 2010 Proposals Published as part of NOAA Grants Omnibus notice; Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) also published; both available via grants.gov

July 16 - October 5 Submission period

October - November Screening of proposals for eligibility and required federal financial assistance forms and other documents; database entry; assigning of reviewers to proposals; reviewers read proposals

November/December (1 week) Technical/Peer Reviewers meeting held (combined East Coast and West Coast meeting)

2010

January/February (1 week) Merit Review meeting held (NOAA Fisheries, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Marine Mammal Commission if available)

Winter (2 weeks) Final review of applications by NOAA Fisheries staff and
preparation of submission packages

Winter (2 weeks) Assistant Administrator (AA) reviews recommended proposals and makes final selections for FY2010

Late Winter (1-2 months) Pre-award negotiations with recommended applicants

Spring (1-3 months) FY2010 awards finalized by GMD Grants Official
