NMFS Announces that the Atlantic Shark Identification Workshop Scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2015, in Norfolk, VA is Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather

February 25, 2015

This is to announce that the Atlantic Shark Identification Workshop that was scheduled to be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, in Norfolk, VA is cancelled due to inclement weather.

NMFS will reschedule this workshop during March of 2015, if possible, to provide another opportunity for Atlantic shark dealers in the Norfolk VA area to attend.  When the workshop is rescheduled, NMFS will publish a notice in the Federal Register and send an e-mail notice to subscribers of “Atlantic HMS News” announcing the new date and location.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) requires that Atlantic Shark Dealer permit holders attend and become certified at Atlantic Shark Identification Workshops (71 FR 58057; October 2, 2006).  These workshops are conducted monthly at various locations along the Atlantic coast and Gulf of Mexico.  The dates and locations of the workshops are announced quarterly through publication of a notice in the Federal Register, letters to affected permit holders, and an e-mail notice to subscribers of “Atlantic HMS News.”
