NOAA Fisheries Reminds Pelagic Longline Vessels with Electronic Monitoring Systems to Include Pre-Paid Mailers and Labels with Hard Drives

Posted June 8, 2015

This is a reminder about the procedures for sending the EM system hard drives (at the end of each pelagic longline fishing trip), and then receiving the replacement hard drives:

At the end of each pelagic longline trip, remove both hard drives from the EM system, put them in a padded envelope, with a pre-paid, self-addressed mailer or label, and send to ERT.  The vessel operator must provide ERT with a pre-paid, self-addressed mailer or label to receive their replacement drives.  The computer hard drives (and mailer or label) should be sent via USPS or FedEx (or another traceable method) to the following address:

Earth Resources Technology, Inc. (ERT) - EM Video Operator
8380 Colesville Road
Suite 110
Silver Spring, MD 20910

ERT will send the vessel replacement hard drives to the address provided by the vessel operator.  The vessel operator is responsible for providing the pre-paid mailer or label (to enable mailing of the replacement hard drives).   The vessel operator is also responsible for obtaining padded mailers for shipping the hard drives to ERT.

When you mail your hard drives to ERT, as required by the regulations, if you do not include a pre-paid mailer or label in the package, the return of the hard drives to you may be delayed until you send a pre-paid mailer or label to ERT.
