Reminder of Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Reporting Requirements (for vessels fishing for bluefin tuna)

General, HMS Charter/Headboat, Harpoon, and Angling category vessel owners are required to report the catch of all bluefin tuna (BFT) retained or discarded dead, within 24 hours of the landing(s) or end of each trip, by accessing hmspermits.noaa.gov, the HMS Catch Reporting App, or by calling customer service at 888-USA-TUNA (888-872-8862Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm EST.

After going to hmspermits.noaa.gov,  click on "Fish Reporting" or "Mobile app download"



The second screen you will see is the Permit Identification screen where you must enter the vessel's HMS permit number, and click "continue":




You will then see the Catch/Landings Reporting: Owner and Vessel Verification screen, and if the information is correct, click "Yes":



On the Trip/Catch Data screen, enter specific information about the trip, 
and information about the number of bluefin released (Alive or Dead). If the information is correct, click "continue" to proceed to the Landing Data screen.




On the Landing Data screen, check the Trip Summary information. If you need to correct a field, click the "Edit Trip". Then, click on Add Species under Landings Summary.



To record information about landed bluefin tuna, select BLUEFIN TUNA from the menu.




In the BLUEFIN TUNA Landing screen, complete the fields in the Measurement Information and Fishing Information sections, and click "save" when finished.




If the Landing Data information on the Landing Summary section regarding the bluefin tuna length and weight is correct, click the "continue" button.




On the final page, enter an email address to receive your report.
