402. Interjurisdictional Fisheries Act amendments
[IFA section 308]
Summary:
This section sets out general appropriations for the
IFA through FY 2000. It requires the Secretary to submit an
update to Congress on the New England FCRI, by January 1, 1997,
and annual updates thereafter. The update is to report on the
number of multispecies permits, the maximum potential fishing
capacity of permitted vessels, the total number of days at sea
(DAS) available to such vessels, the total DAS weighted by the
maximum potential fishing capacity, the extent to which weighted
DAS are used, the reduction of such DAS as a result of the
initiative, and an estimate of the conservation benefits directly
attributable to the capacity reduction program.
